PYF Founder Chip Lawrence, a current MLB Scouting executive (24+ years), is well-versed in the development of every stage of the baseball player, from youth baseball to collegiate rosters to Major League Baseball. As a former player himself, he recognized that, although many young athletes play baseball year-round, there is an ever-present absence of minority and low-in- come youth on the baseball fields, especially in the higher tier competitions across the country. Chip created PYF to serve as a vehicle of access to the game for minority and underserved players.

As a player in the PYF program it felt like family. I was able to meet players and coaches who I still keep in touch with. I went in the program with one scholarship offer and by the end of the program I had numerous scholarship offers ranging from Juco to D1
Most organizations talk the talk, PYF WALKS THE WALK. PYF in a very short time became one of the most productive youth baseball organizations for minority and underserved communities.
As a player PYF gave me opportunities I never would have experienced such as being able to play with kids, coaches and scouts that looked like me. This experience led me to travel to different states and Japan through opportunities that were created. As a coach, I am personally trying to be a resource to those who are underserved. This is bigger than baseball. Hopefully creating MLB players, coaches, scouts, general managers and baseball fans.
